This is great news!

I always ask my patients what works for their fibromyalgia, and almost everyone has a different regimen. My mom has had it for years, in fact, she was diagnosed so long ago that I had never even heard of it when she told me!

Nice to see that there are more options, and that the condition is being taken seriously (which, as you know, hasn't always been the case!).

Stacy,
I just wanted to add that I can completely sympathize with the story you told me. I recently had someone very close to me tell me to
"stop making excuses for everything". What? Because I'm exhausted? It's amazing to see how far the lack of understanding goes, even when it comes to those closest to us.

Thank you for submitting this article. I had the most surreal feeling while reading it. I'm all to familiar with every stage discussed but I don't know anyone personally who has been through this. I keep my pain & anger close to my vest but, as the article says, I've only ended up becomming an island. Thanks for helping me realize that although I am alone, I am not the only person struggling.

Stacy - Your "Would I do it again?" letter should be required reading for
anyone w/TMJ - whether jaw replacement surgery is on
the table or not. Because TMJ is so subjective and the
medical community is still divided about treatment, each
patient MUST learn to have the patience & courage to be
their own bottom line in decision-making. Too many times
pain & frustration make decisions that aren't the best in
the long-term. In my opinion, another important question
to ask (as many experts as possible) is "if I have this
procedure, what is the worst/best case scenario & will it
limit options for furture treatments?". Even then, always
remember, the person giving you the answers doesn't have
            to LIVE with the consequences.

            Thanks for your imput. TQD

It's so discouraging how little physicians know or even agree upon about TMD/TMJ. The replacement surgery is just scary in the hands of these people!

And, Botox isn't all that exciting, either! LOL!

Thanks for sharing! :)

my tmj doc fitted me with a splint to wear at nighttime. it doesn't do much and basically she said my jaw would always pop and if it doesn't, then it means the disc has slide further out of place. she basically had the suspicion that my pain was coming from something else, which I have been diagnosed since then with migraines that I'm on medication for. I feel 95% better than I did before, pretty pain free, but it's disappointing that they couldn't do anything else for my jaw.

I too have had for about 6 months, a buring sensation in my left ear. I think you call it the tragus part of the ear. I have TMJ but I have not been able to get any answers from the Doctor's when it comes to why my ear gets this burning sensation. Do you have any suggestions. It is terrible.
