TMJ Surgery
TMJ surgery is controversial. While many dentists, surgeons, and other physicians treating TMJ disorder can not agree on appropriate treatment, many do agree on one thing:
TMJ surgery should not be performed unless the patient has exhausted all conservative, non-invasive treatments. If surgery is considered, the patient should understand that relief of all pain might not be possible.
Regardless, I believe that information about procedures should be available. Below is a list of our articles explaining the different surgeries:
- Arthrocentesis
- Arthroscopy
- Arthroplasty
- Disc Removal
- Temporalis Muscle Graft
- Rib Graft, ear graft, or other tissue graft
- Partial Joint Replacement
- Total Joint Replacement
